About Iberia Advisory

Iberia Advisory LLC is an award-winning Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that brings industry veterans with a fresh perspective to help organizations stay ahead and thrive in an unpredictable world.

About the Role

This is a hybrid role within the National Capital Region (NCR), supporting a client located at the Washington Navy Yard (WNY). Candidates should be available to go onsite 1-2 days per week

This role supports the Department of the Navy (DON), Manpower & Reserve Affairs (M&RA), in administering benefits for veteran warfighters. The selected candidate will assist in processing Barring Act Waiver (BAW) claims related to Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC). Due to the nature of the work, an active Secret clearance is required, and candidates without one will not be considered.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the processing and tracking of Barring Act Waiver (BAW) claims (31 U.S.C. 3702)
  • Assist in preparing waiver packages and reviewing supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain organized and accurate claim files (digital and physical)
  • Communicate professionally with team and client personnel

Job Requirements

  • Active or Interim Secret clearance, or higher (required — no exceptions)
  • Located in the DMV area, with ability to work hybrid schedule 1-2 days per week at the Washington Navy Yard
  • Strong attention to detail, especially in reviewing names, dates, and case documentation
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and retrieve records efficiently
  • Ability to conduct research, synthesize information, and communicate findings clearly
  • Growth mindset with motivation for continuous learning and development
  • All majors are encouraged to apply, with an emphasis on Business, Writing/Communication, Pre-law, Diplomacy, or similar.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Familiarity with military benefits, BAW, or CRSC
  • Prior exposure to government, defense, or federal contracting environments
  • Experience or internship background in paralegal, legal admin, claims analysis, research, or similar fields
  • Military service, military spouse, or dependent background

What Matters Most

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate both mindset and character:

  • Mindset: Proactive, curious, and driven to learn and grow
  • Character: High integrity, collaborative, and committed to team success (“one team, one fight”)
  • Professional presence with the ability to engage confidently in a DOD/DOW environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Secret clearance

What You Can Expect From Us

  • A collaborative and supportive work environment
  • A mission-driven team making a meaningful impact supporting veteran communities
  • A community of growth-minded colleagues
  • Opportunities for professional development, including 1:1 coaching
  • Competitive compensation ($24.00/hour)
