Job Title
Medical Assistant
Job Summary
The Medical Assistant participates in the delivery of patient care within the guidelines and policies of Northfield Hospital and Clinics. Carries out patient care tasks as directed by providers and nurses, maintains supplies and equipment, and accurately communicates with patients and all members of the healthcare team. This position provides age-specific and developmentally appropriate care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Compensation
We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is $21.08–$29.76. This range reflects the base salary for this position.
Key Accountabilities
Patient care
-
Prepares exam and treatment rooms prior to patient visit.

Prepares charts for appointments and reviews pertinent information for the appointment.

Rooms patient and prepares patient for exams, tests, and procedures.

Obtains and accurately records necessary vital signs and physical measurements.

Prepares, administers and records medications per policy and established procedures.
-
Assist provider as needed.
-
Performs medical office procedures as ordered by the Provider.
-
Collects lab specimens and completes forms in accordance with hospital and clinic lab policies.

Monitors providers’ orders to ensure orders are completed.

Administrative duties such as completing paperwork that is needed for the provider, patient, or parent.

Assisting the patient with making medical appointments as needed.

Working with insurance companies to get prior authorization for medications or imaging if needed.

Works with the provider, patient, or parent to complete needed paperwork.
Communication
-
Communicates pertinent information to providers and healthcare teams.
-
Informs medical/nursing team when a patient has urgent needs and/or a changing condition.

Relays test results accurately and in accordance with established procedures.

Accurately communicate and records information in a timely manner.
Equipment and supplies
-
Ensures that equipment and supplies are available and adequately stocked for patient care.

Properly cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment.
Required Qualifications
-
New grads encouraged to apply.

Must be over 18 years of age.
-
High School Diploma or equivalent.
-
Current BLS must be enrolled in NH+C RQI program and complete the requirements within 90 days of enrollment. Must remain current (complete quarterly assignments prior to the end of each calendar quarter).

Non-Certified/Non-Registered applicants must have graduated from an accredited school with a clinical externship and provide proof of school completion.

Ability to learn and use electronic health records and other computer programs.

Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently to ensure safe and effective communication in a healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications

CMA or RMA preferred.

One year of clinical practice experience.
