Job Description
Position Summary
The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing complete construction estimates, including but not limited to the soliciting and evaluation of subcontractor bids and scopes of work, preparing take-offs, and reviewing project plans and specifications for all categories of work. The Sr. Estimator must be a flexible, adaptable team player and have strong communication and client service skills. This job is located in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
Job Specifications
- Ability to read and understand Contract Drawings and Specifications
- Ability to manage complete bid process including general conditions
- Perform quantity take-offs, experience with OnCenter OST preferred
- Input take-off and manage pricing as directed, experience with Sage Estimating preferred
- Create tab sheets for subcontractor quotes and bid leveling for a complete scope
- Manage subcontractor solicitation
- Updating and posting plans and specifications to SmartBid
- Experience drafting subcontractor scopes or work
- Logical and organized approach to completing tasks and solving problems
- Must have a strong work ethic
- Proficient in MS Office, Adobe and plan viewing applications
- Other duties as assigned
Communication Skills Required
Must have strong interpersonal, verbal, written communication skills and the ability to present information to supervisors, groups of clients, top management, or team. Must be able to manage Jr. Estimator staff to include training and oversight of their work.
Experience Required
5 years in estimating/preconstruction is preferred. Must have construction field experience as a Project Manager or Superintendent. An experienced Project Manager with some estimating experience that wishes to have a more stable work environment with limited travel is welcome to apply.
Expected Hours or Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are approximately Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Estimators are based out of the Tarpon Springs, Florida office and travel to the job sites, pre-bid or client meetings as required.
Required Education
While a bachelor’s degree in construction is preferred, significant construction experience will be considered.
Language Skills
Must be able to read, write and fluently speak English.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
