Medical Social Worker I



Position Summary:

Provides social work services to patients, families and identified caregivers as part of an interdisciplinary care team.

Responsibilities:

  • This includes conducting psychosocial assessment, intervention and counseling with a particular emphasis on transitions of care in a healthcare setting
  • Maintains current knowledge of resources available and shares this information with patients, families and identified caregivers
  • Collaborates across the organization and with community stakeholders
  • Works under broad supervision
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work required
  • Licensure and/or certification as required by the State of Idaho; Idaho license by endorsement must be initiated by time of hire and obtained within 3 testing cycles, not to exceed 1 year of employment
  • 1 year of social service experience in a health care setting or social services agency preferred
  • Knowledge of and ability to obtain community resources (information and referral, state/federal financial programs and eligibility requirements, etc.). Compliance with accepted professional standards and practice

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
  • Typical equipment used in an office job
  • Repetitive movements
