FULL-TIME WITH BENEFITS

POSITION SUMMARY

The Environmental Service Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, orderly, and safe healthcare environment. This position performs environmental cleaning, disinfecting, waste management, floor care, and related support activities in accordance with MHHS policies, OSHA regulations, infection prevention standards, and applicable healthcare regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Environmental Cleaning & Sanitation: Maintains a clean, sanitary, and safe healthcare environment by performing routine and specialized cleaning of patient care areas, offices, restrooms, waiting areas, and common spaces in accordance with established infection prevention standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Waste Management & Disposal: Ensures the safe collection, transportation, and disposal of general, recyclable, and regulated medical waste while adhering to applicable environmental, infection control, and safety regulations to minimize health and compliance risks.
  • Equipment & Supply Management: Maintains environmental services equipment and supplies through proper operation, inspection, cleaning, storage, and inventory monitoring to support efficient departmental operations and uninterrupted service delivery.
  • Infection Prevention & Safety Compliance: Promotes a safe healthcare environment by following infection prevention protocols, utilizing personal protective equipment appropriately, adhering to OSHA and MHHS safety standards, and promptly addressing or reporting identified hazards.
  • Communication & Team Collaboration: Supports organizational effectiveness by communicating professionally with supervisors, coworkers, patients, and visitors while collaborating across departments to ensure facility cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency.

  • Dependability: Maintains consistent attendance, punctuality, reliability, and productivity while completing assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Ethics & Confidentiality: Maintains ethical conduct, protects sensitive information, safeguards patient privacy, and consistently adheres to organizational policies, HIPAA requirements, and professional standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous environmental services, housekeeping, janitorial, or custodial experience preferred.
  • Healthcare environmental services certification preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, pushing and pulling equipment.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to prioritize work, follow procedures, and work independently.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Healthcare facility environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals and potentially infectious materials.
