JOB SUMMARY

The Staff Development Coordinator is a full-time nurse with administrative duties reporting directly to the Director of Nursing. Its purpose is to assure the development and deployment of high-level administrative projects impacting patient care. They work in conjunction with the Director of Nursing, Administrative Coordinator, Household Staff teams (Nurses, CNAs) MDS Coordinator, Restorative Nurse, Dietary Manager, Activities Director, Social Services, and Executive Director to develop and implement processes impacting the household workflows. This person is responsible for developing and executing process improvement initiatives that will become daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly work for established administrative roles and handing off all completed processes to the respective owner once proven to be in sustainment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


  • Develop and implement Elder Care Specialist Pathway program including onboarding, orienting, and achieving and maintaining competence for all individuals entering Sheridan Green House (SGH) with the goal of becoming an Elder Care Specialist.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate onboarding, orientation, and ongoing education programs for all nursing and ancillary staff, contracted staff, and volunteers.

  • Design and maintain annual education and competency plans based on facility assessments, regulatory requirements, and resident needs.

  • Develop, schedule, and deliver in-service education, refresher training, and competency validations; track completion and compliance.

  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive education and training records.

  • Collaborate with department leaders to define and assess role-specific competencies.

  • Cooperate with leadership to regularly evaluate training program effectiveness and recommend improvements.

  • Help develop and implement policy and procedure related to care provided at SGH.

  • Assist in developing and implementing processes to monitor ongoing compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Meets on a consistent basis with the interdisciplinary team to facilitate development and communication among the Self-Managed Work Team and Clinical Support Team meetings of all performance improvement work.

  • Applies working knowledge of Green House Living policies and procedures, as well as state and federal education requirements for skilled nursing facility personnel

  • Reviews and assures personnel compliance with in-service requirements and programs for staff development to ensure sustainment is reached. Develops subsequent monitoring plan to be handed off to owners of the work.

  • Assures a program of staff development that supports the highest levels of staff skills and job competencies

  • Contributes to processes supporting maintenance of accurate and comprehensive electronic education records and files

  • Continually foster and maintain open communication of progress, obstacles and outcomes for team coordinators, team members and administration

  • Performs all job duties to ensure that confidential information and resident rights are always protected.

  • Perform job duties in accordance with established safety guidelines, protocols and expectations.

  • Complies with established standards described in facility policies and procedures, code of conduct, corporate compliance plan, employee handbook and other company documents and publications.

  • Attends required meetings, including, but not limited to, QAPI and the appropriate level of the tiered huddles' system.

  • Provides input for team discussion and seeks feedback from the team by engaging with the appropriate level of the Tiered Huddle system

  • Upholds the Green House Project values of real home, meaningful lives and empowered staff while simultaneously ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Alternate nurse on-call with the leadership team, potentially filling in for shifts (day or night)


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Experience, & License


  • Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse licensure.

  • Nursing degree, required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree.

  • Working knowledge of Point Click Care Charting (PCC) or have the ability and desire to learn the system.

  • Possesses a willingness to continually research and gain a working knowledge of skilled nursing care advancements and their educational relevance

  • This position requires a minimum of two years in healthcare and one year of upper-level management or leadership experience.
