About This Position
POSITION SUMMARY
The Process Engineer provides engineering and production support to the die cast floor by developing and maintaining robust die cast processes while striving to achieve lowest cost and highest quality production methods. Must ensure that customer specified quality levels are met or exceeded. Support launch of new product per APQP launch process as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Responsible for any and all activity associated with assigned die-cast processes, including but not limited to; tooling design and support, simulation, process development, production support, training of hourly staff, process documentation, and selection of perishable cast tooling within company standardization guidelines.
· Lead or support production teams to improve uptime and reduce scrap.
· Support launch of new products while following MKC launch procedures.
· Must consider how cast process changes affect dimensional and part quality, and must use proper caution and due diligence to ensure that product quality is either improved or maintained when changes are made.
· Must consider downstream processes such as trim, finishing, machining, and painting when making changes, and how changes will affect downstream processes.
· Drive the sampling and correcting of replacement tooling including leading or supporting the review of dimensional issues and corrections.
· Support efforts to standardize best practices across all plants.
· Support launch teams in development of APQP documents such as inspection sheets, process flow, PFMEA, and control plans.
· Ensure processes are stable and meet customer requirements in productivity and quality performance.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Heavy Manufacturing Environment. MKC houses different machinery, equipment, processes, and chemicals which produce potential hazards in the work environment such as: ergonomic, chemical, machine point of operation, and powered industrial vehicle traffic. These hazards are controlled through means of engineering controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to noisy. In certain areas of the facility, employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, and hand protection.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to regularly walk throughout all the manufacturing facilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis.
· Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering or similar degree with eight or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in casting, injection molding, or machining.
· ABB programming and familiarity with die cast machine controls preferred.
