POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Controller, the Senior Finance Manager will support the financial operations of STRIVE, with a focus on ensuring compliance with local and state funding requirements. This role will assist in managing the financial responsibilities, implementing accounting policies and standard operating practices, maintaining internal controls, and contributing to financial reporting processes. The Senior Finance Manager will collaborate with various departments to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency in alignment with STRIVE’s mission and growth plans.
Requirements:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the CFAO and Controller to supervise and direct all financial functions and systems within STRIVE.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of the finance team, including conducting weekly one-on-one meetings, setting performance expectations, completing performance appraisals, providing coaching and feedback, and supporting staff development to ensure efficient and compliant financial operations. Monitor contract receivables and assist in the approval of billings and payment of accounts payable.
- Support the development and monitoring of program and organization-wide budgets.
- Oversee the development and management of departmental revenue streams, ensuring proper allocation and compliance with financial policies.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and forecasts, including variance analysis of budget to actual results.
- Monitor and analyze cash flow to ensure the organization has enough funds for operations.
- Utilize data analytics to support financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including identifying trends, building forecasts, and informing strategic decision-making.
- Assist with account analysis and reconciliation processes.
- Aid in tax preparation activities and the approval of contract vouchers.
- Prepare periodic grant and contract expenditure reports to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
- Support the Controller in overseeing external audits and provide necessary information for the annual audit.
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal government regulations, especially regarding non-profit funding.
- Conduct finance training sessions for department leaders to enhance their financial literacy and budgeting capabilities.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Additional responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- CPA or CMA designation preferred.
- Prior experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling, is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in non-profit finance or accounting, with a preferred focus on managing grant funding.
- Familiarity with non-profit accounting standards and related laws is required.
- Experience with Fund EZ Accounting software is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Superior organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Previous experience with bill.com is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and stakeholders.

Location: This position will be in-person for a minimum of four days per week at STRIVE New York’s office in East Harlem. Occasional travel to other STRIVE operating sites is required.
