About the Position:The Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities, including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. This position is assigned to a women’s residential campus and requires professionalism, discretion, and a clear understanding of the sensitivity and privacy required in a women’s living environment. About the Position:The Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities, including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. This position is assigned to a women’s residential campus and requires professionalism, discretion, and a clear understanding of the sensitivity and privacy required in a women’s living environment. What You Will Do:
- Perform property checks for service and cleanliness needs.
- Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Notify the Maintenance Lead Tech of potential maintenance problems.
- Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician (e.g., drywall, painting, repairing doors and fixtures).
- Utilize powered and non-powered equipment safely.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on building systems.
- Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and emergencies.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts/materials used.
- Coordinate with campus staff to minimize disruption to daily operations.
- Participate in community-building activities as appropriate to the position.
- Attend workshops, meetings, and trainings as requested by supervisor.
- May serve in a Community Advocate role in addition to assigned duties.
- Uphold Amity’s standards of professionalism, respect, and confidentiality when entering residential spaces.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Education and Experience
- Required:
- High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) or equivalent training/work experience.
- 2+ years of experience in general maintenance, facilities, or related trade.
- Preferred (not required):
- Experience working in women’s facilities, residential programs, or nonprofit settings.
- OSHA or other safety training certifications.
- Certifications or Licenses
- Required:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass a security clearance.
- Current valid CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- Tuberculosis test from a health professional.
- Preferred:
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) & ESR (Emergency Service Response) certification.
- Skills and Abilities
- Strong working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and basic HVAC systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems independently.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressure in a residential setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills with respectful communication toward residents and staff.
