The Clinical Trainee position at Hively is an opportunity to work with a well-established and growing agency serving individuals and families in Alameda County. In this role there are opportunities to work with all ages, including early childhood. You will receive personalized supervision & feedback from licensed clinicians while you gain experience toward completing your practicum.
The Clinical Trainee position is a volunteer internship opportunity to provide clinical professional services under supervision of a Licensed Clinician, and requires applicants to be currently enrolled in an eligible Master's Degree Program. This role performs supervised individual and group counseling and attends weekly supervision.
This program is specifically for students looking to complete practicum hours for LMFT or LPCC certification.
What you will do: - Provide direct service psychotherapy to caseload
- Maintain up-to-date clinical documentation as required
- Provide assessment, treatment planning, and clinical service counseling
- Consult with supervisors and staff as needed/required
- Attend supervision on a weekly basis and in a prompt manner
- Interact with staff and clients in a professional and ethical manner
- Participate in supervision and training with an openness to learning and receiving feedback
- Perform other related tasks that are a part of the agency's operation
- Perform additional job-related duties and responsibilities as requested
- Master's Degree in progress from an accredited college or university in related field
- Commitment to the year long duration of the program beginning early Fall 2026
- Knowledge and basic skills in counseling practices and methods
- Ability to plan, implement, evaluate and report activities conducted
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and to prepare written and electronic documents
- Ability to communicate orally, both in person and by telephone
- Ability to report to one of the Hively locations to complete practicum hours (Oakland or San Leandro)
- Ability to travel to meetings, other campuses and counseling sites as needed
- Ability to establish rapport with others as a requisite for healthy and therapeutic relationships
- Ability to be both consistent and flexible as circumstances warrant
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in psychological emergencies and/or crises when provided with appropriate supervision and direction
- Self-awareness in order to relate to others effectively and appropriately
- Criminal justice clearance required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
