Description:

New Tech Global Staffing is currently seeking a Manual OD Grinder for a client located in Cleveland, TX to join our team. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity.

Pay: Open Pay rate
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week, [Insert Shift Time]

Summary:

Responsible for operating manual OD grinding machines to produce precision components to exact specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, experience with various metals, and proficiency in blueprint reading and manual grinding techniques.

Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate manual OD grinding machines to grind external cylindrical or tapered surfaces.
  • Select appropriate grinding wheels and adjust machine settings for optimal performance.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure parts meet tolerances.
  • Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy; make necessary adjustments.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment clean and functional.
  • Maintain accurate records of production and inspection results.
  • Follow safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
  • Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality control staff to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in manual OD grinding or precision machining.
  • Strong understanding of grinding principles, materials, and tool selection.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficient in using precision measurement tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Tolerance for exposure to shop noise, grinding dust, and lubricants.
