Job Overview:
The Chief Echocardiogram Technician performs technical procedures such as Adult, Peds, Fetal Echos with the use of an Echocardiogram machine, to obtain ultrasound images to aid in diagnoses of cardiac disease. The Technician also performs advance testing such as Stress Echocardiograms and assists the cardiologists in Trans-Esophageal Echocardiograms, Also performs services as needed such as Stress Testing, EKG, 24 hour holter monitoring placement and scanning. Assists the Coordinator and Chief Echo Tech of NIC in quality improvement specific for the NIC department.
Qualification
Required:
Education: High school or equivalent.
Certificate from an approved school for diagnostic ultrasound.
Experience: 1 year previous cardiac ultrasound in a hospital setting preferred. Stress echo and T.E.E. experience preferred.

Essential Functions:
Ensures the functioning of all equipment in area and adequate inventory of supplies.
Fix and mount recordings and maintains tape images in an organized manner for physicians to interpret studies.
Maintains the sterility and security of T.E.E. probe.
Performs calculations from study necessary for physician’s interpretation.
Performs Echocardiogram and successfully produces a diagnostic images to the satisfaction of the cardiologists.
Prepares patient for exam by explaining procedures and correlates patient clinical history with exam.
Recognizes significance of all structures, including artifacts and recognizes equipment limitations.
Schedules exams for patients and notifies physicians of patient’s arrival.
Under the direction of cardiologists, performs Stress Echocardiograms.
Under the directions of cardiologists, performs T.E.E. procedures.

Utilizes Hospital System to capture all patient charges. |
Verifies identity of patient and accuracy of exam order.
