SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician for a possible upcoming contract supporting operations within a local healthcare facility.
SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 150 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.
Pay will be $39.37/hr. There is also an additional $4.93/hr in health & welfare you will receive.
Multiple Shifts to include: 0700 AM-0330 PM; 0730AM-4000PM; 0800AM-0430PM; 1030AM-0700PM; 1130AM-0800PM; 1230PM-900PM; 0330PM-1200AM.
To be eligible for the position, you must possess the following:
- Bachelors Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
- Certified as MT, MLS, or CLS by ASCP or AMT.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical laboratory generalist duties in all areas of the laboratory including phlebotomy, urinalysis, coagulation, hematology, immunohematology, blood gases, microbiology and chemistry.
- Perform a wide variety of manual and automated procedures, including moderate and complex analysis.
- Develops, performs, evaluates, interprets, correlates, and validates the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results.
- Testing procedures are performed on a variety of biological specimens using manual or automated techniques and require a broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision.
- The work performed will be in Chemistry (including endocrinology and toxicology), coagulation, hematology, immunology, immunohematology, blood gases, urinalysis, microbiology, and phlebotomy.
- Monitor quality control systems and measures; collaborate in the diagnosis and treatment of patients; and provide education for laboratory and other healthcare professionals, and others in the medical center setting including the public.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures, providing clear instructions and reassurance as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely delivery of services.
- Adhere to established protocols and procedures for safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality.
- Maintain equipment functionality by performing routine maintenance and participating in quality assurance activities.
- Document procedures accurately in electronic medical records and other relevant systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
- Certified as MT, MLS, or CLS by ASCP or AMT.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as Generalist Medical Technologist.
- BLS (CPR) certification from AHA or equivalent required
- All candidates will be subjected to a background/security investigation and must also pass a pre-employment physical exam. Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
