About This Position
Fleet Mechanic- will diagnose and repair fleet equipment with little or no supervision, conduct Preventive Maintenance (PM) Services, conduct FMCSA inspections, diagnose, service, repair replace parts and components as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Comply with all safety practices and follow company Procedures.
- Demonstrate gaining proficiency in the inspection, repair, and diagnosis of - with some assistance: diesel engines, power train to include differentials, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, wheel ends. Electrical systems including starters, alternators, and lights. HVAC systems. Steering systems. Electronics to include ECM's, ECU's, sensors etc. Engine bolt on items such as turbos, fan clutches, cooling system etc. Brake systems including ABS & air disk brakes. Suspension systems (spring and air) including tire issues, and after treatment devices
- Perform electrical system repairs, cooling system maintenance and complete vehicle diagnosis
- Perform all levels of PM services on truck and trailing equipment as well as FMCSA inspections
- Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair order
- Maintain work area appearance
- Utilize the following test instruments: handheld computers, wiring diagrams, and pressure gauges.
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA and OSHA standards and properly document work completed.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by shop manager
- Provide customer service to the drivers who need maintenance work
- Proficiently enter all transactions within the maintenance system
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prefer Annual Vehicle Inspector Certified and Brake Inspector Certified (per FMCSA requirements).
- Broad understanding of fleet maintenance policies, FMCSA standards and industry practices.
- Clean MVR and ability to operate service truck.
