Job Description

Fox Hopyard Golf Club is seeking a Sous Chef for our onsite restaurant, On the Rocks. This is an opportunity for an experienced and skilled culinary professional to assume a key role in a respected venue with an inspiring five year growth plan. Fox Hopyard, located in East Haddam, CT adjacent to the Devil's Hopyard State Park, has been a highly regarded 18 hole golf course and popular event venue since opening in 2001 and converted to a private club in 2022. The clubhouse boasts a large, elegant central dining room, as well as more intimate dining spaces and outdoor dining on our spacious patio. We take pride in showcasing the natural beauty of the clubhouse's special setting, particularly by incorporating natural stone elements and offering sweeping views of the golf course from the dining areas and clubhouse deck.


The ideal Sous Chef for On the Rocks at Fox Hopyard Golf Club will have the following qualifications:

  • Five or more years cooking experience in a fine Dining, country club, or high volume catering setting
  • A culinary degree or equivalent professional culinary apprenticeship or experience
  • A professional demeanor
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the line and ensure consistent delivery of a quality guest experience
  • Knowledge of kitchen management, including inventory procedures
  • Serve Safe Food Protection Manager (current or able to obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Allergen Awareness and Choke Safe certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Prior banquet experience preferred
