The Princeton University Physics Department seeks exceptional Ph.D. recipients in experimental physics for an honorific postdoctoral fellowship program. Candidates from all areas of experimental physics will be considered and selected through an annual competition. Applications will be reviewed as they arrive. To ensure full consideration, all materials must be received by October 21, 2025.
Selected scholars are expected to work with existing experimental groups in the department, although those who wish to pursue a specific independent research program will also be considered. Princeton has experimental research programs in Atomic Physics, Biophysics, Condensed Matter Physics, Cosmology & Gravitation, High Energy Physics, and Particle Astrophysics. Applicants are encouraged to discuss the potential research group or groups they would be interested in working with.
Appointments, to be made at the rank of Associate Research Scholar, will be for three years with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2026. Selected scholars will be "Dicke Fellows" in recognition of Princeton physicist Robert Dicke. In addition to salary and benefits, the program will provide a discretionary fund of $15,000 per year for each scholar.
Candidates must submit a CV, list of publications, a statement of research interests, and the contact information for three referees. Finalists will be invited to give a research talk, either at Princeton or remotely if travel to Princeton is not feasible.
This position is subject to the University's background check policy. Proof of Ph.D. must be submitted prior to start date. Candidates who are not selected for a Dicke position may also be considered for other postdoctoral positions in the Department. The work location for this position will either be on campus at Princeton University or, subject to approval, at an off-campus location where the research project is undertaken. .
