We are currently hiring for the position of Lab Tech I at our Savannah, GA Plant. If you’re eager to contribute to a growing company and develop your skills in quality assurance, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for!

Position: Lab Tech I
Location: Savannah, GA
Compensation: $23.84/hr – $+ (based on experience)
Bonuses: Two performance-based bonuses per year
Schedule: Alternating 12-hour shifts (2 weeks of days, followed by 2 weeks of nights)

Job Summary:

As a Lab Tech I, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests to determine the chemical and physical characteristics of materials. This role supports various functions, including quality control, process control, and product development. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining the high standards of quality at FVO.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct physical and chemical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
  • Verify test results to ensure they meet product specifications.
  • Provide timely test results, issue certificates of analysis, and maintain testing records and analysis databases.
  • Prepare chemical solutions in accordance with standard formulas.
  • Follow lab safety guidelines and proper handling of lab equipment and chemicals.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment, including chromatographs, balances, colorimeters, spectrophotometers, and more.
  • Regularly calibrate instruments and ensure proper maintenance of lab tools.
  • Monitor inventory of lab chemicals, ensuring safe storage and disposal of expired stock.
  • Maintain logs, generate graphs, charts, and tables, and audit records to ensure compliance with quality assurance and safety standards.
  • Analyze industrial wastewater samples to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Troubleshoot lab instrument issues and assist with resolving product quality concerns.
  • Ensure adherence to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and maintain a reliable, efficient analytical lab environment.
Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience (1-2 years of relevant lab experience is preferred).
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a team environment.
    • Proficiency in using lab equipment and tools.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret technical documents and present findings to management and customers.
  • Mathematics: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios to practical scenarios.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent standing, with occasional walking, sitting, and reaching.
  • Must have a good sense of taste and smell, as these are important for assessing product quality.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision requirements, including close vision for reading lab equipment and distinguishing colors.
Work Environment:
  • You will work in a laboratory environment that occasionally involves exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
  • The noise level is generally quiet, but safety protocols must always be followed.
