Job Description
The City of Greenville seeks a strategic thinker with a passion for public service and a commitment to improving the quality of life for residents for the role of Community Engagement Manager. The Community Engagement Manager is a new position for the City of Greenville that will be responsible for overseeing and implementing comprehensive community engagement strategies to foster strong relationships between the city and its residents. Through outreach and engagement, this position will lead the Community Engagement Division and work collaboratively with other departments to create, support, and administer innovative programs and initiatives that enhance community participation, understanding, and input.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $72,571.20 - $92,539.20
Full Salary Range: $72,571.20 - $112,486.40

- Develops and implements a long-term community engagement strategy that aligns with the City's overall goals and priorities;
- Oversees community outreach efforts, including public meetings, workshops, and neighborhood events, to gather input and feedback on City initiatives;
- Develops, implements, and evaluates community programs and initiatives, such as neighborhood revitalization projects, public art installations, and cultural events;
- Collaborates with the Public Information Office to develop effective communication strategies, including social media, newsletters, and press releases, to keep the community informed about City programs and services;
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with community organizations, businesses, and resident associations to foster partnerships and collaboration;
- Tracks and analyzes key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of community engagement efforts and identify areas for improvement;
- Leads and mentors a team of community engagement professionals;
- Oversees the division's budget and ensures efficient allocation of resources;
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, Communications, or a closely related field, and;
- At least five years of experience in community engagement, public relations, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in municipal government or a similar public-sector environment;
- Knowledge of community needs, opportunities, and challenges;
- Bilingual or multilingual language skills.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
- citizen involvement and participation skills and techniques relative to program planning and evaluation.
- leading and recommending solutions and strategies;
- communicating effectively orally and in writing, including the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner;
- data analysis and reporting tools.
Ability to:
- perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others;
- build relationships and work collaboratively with City officials, other employees, and the general public;
- work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others;
- meet the mental and physical demands of the job.
- A valid driver's license issued by N.C. or another state (Note: a valid driver's license is a current driver's license that is not revoked, suspended, or subject to limited restoration or conditional operation privileges)
