About The Role

The Hatchery Egg and Cool Room Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining the efficiency, cleanliness, and organization of the egg and cool room at the Mulgrave Hatchery. This full-time, salaried position oversees daily operations, ensuring all industry regulations and company standards are met. You will lead by example to create a safe and productive work environment while ensuring optimal egg management and storage capabilities.

Salary $75,000 to $79,000

What You'll Do

  • Supervise daily operations of the egg room and cool room to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Implement and monitor storage temperature, humidity, and other environmental controls to meet egg care requirements.
  • Coordinate and support the scheduling and movement of eggs applying technical judgment to identify abnormalities or quality issues.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed records for fertility rates, contamination levels, hatch outcomes, and egg storage trends.
  • Liaise with incubation and breeding teams to ensure accurate egg tracking and quality feedback loops.
  • Support quality assurance programs and external audits, including DPI and HACCP compliance. This includes performing hatchery swabbing and sampling.
  • From time to time, you will be dispatched to farms to assess day old quality issues, to relate back to hatchery for operational improvements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor level degree in veterinary science or animal science
  • Proven experience in hatchery operations or egg management, with a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of egg storage requirements, including temperature, humidity, and handling practices.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in record-keeping and reporting.
  • Familiarity with biosecurity and safety standards in hatchery operations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as necessary.
