THE CITY OF LEAWOOD, KANSAS is looking for an
Experienced HVAC Specialist

As a Facility Specialist, you'll be an integral part of maintaining the functionality of our city-owned facilities. Your daily tasks may include:

  • Completing moderate to advanced routine repairs and preventative maintenance on all City-owned facilities and equipment to ensure the facilities and equipment are in working condition.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical and plumbing defects found during inspection, replacement, or installation.
  • Assisting other Facility Technicians with diagnosing and completing minor heating and cooling equipment repairs.
  • Collaborating with fellow team members to prioritize tasks and complete assignments efficiently.

We seek experienced individuals eager to take their HVAC skills to the next level while taking on a mentorship role for other less experienced team members. As a Facility Specialist, you will grow your skills in diagnosing and troubleshooting HVAC and electrical issues but will also get to learn about plumbing, fire protection systems, and project management. You will be exposed to all the elements of HAVC systems, including a BAS system, a Geothermal system at the Justice Center, and a Daikin VRV system at the Fire Stations.

The Facility Maintenance team plays a vital role in maintaining the City of Leawood’s buildings for everyone to enjoy throughout the year. You will have a work-life balance where your schedule will be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with some scheduled overtime.

Minimum Qualifications: Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in facility maintenance, with three (3) years of that experience being in the HVAC field. Equivalent Experience includes Vocational Technical or Trade School with a focus in HVAC and three (3) years of experience working in the field. Must hold CFC Certification through an approved credentialing entity. Must have an acceptable driving record per the City’s Drivers Use of Vehicles for City Business policy throughout employment with the City.

Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) years of experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting in HVAC repair.
