About This Position

Medical Lab Scientist (MLS)

POSITION PURPOSE
The Medical Laboratory Scientist position is responsible for performing general duties pertaining to the processing of patient samples to accommodate accurate and timely laboratory testing. The position is responsible for accurately performing tests and reporting results in the fields of microbiology, coagulation, chemistry, hematology, transfusion medicine, serology and urinalysis. Comprehensive microbiology may be required to cover the shift.
MINIMUM MANDATORY qualifications
Experience:
  • No experience required.
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Chemical, Physical or Laboratory Science and/or Medical Technology program from an accredited institution required.
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills are required.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude in Microsoft and Laboratory Information Systems. Knowledge of Meditech preferred.
