About This Position

Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Ocañas Lab is seeking a part-time Laboratory Technician.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining mouse colonies.
  • Euthanizing animals and preparing tissue.
  • Sectioning, staining, and imaging tissue sections.
  • Performing molecular and biochemical analyses.
  • Preparing and maintaining common lab reagents.
  • Participation in lab and departmental meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Must be team oriented, personable, and able to deal with diverse personalities.
  • Must be able to take direction, follow instructions and keep meticulous records.
  • Must be reliable and self-driven with a high attention to detail.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of routine technical/functional laboratory procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Work Hours
Between 16-20 hours per week during the summer. Hours beyond summer can be discussed.
