Boulder County Community Services Department is seeking to hire a multiple BCHS Bilingual Teacher Assistant. The Head Start Teacher Assistant supports the classroom in creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for preschool-aged children. This role involves assisting with curriculum implementation, promoting school readiness, and supporting children’s individual needs in alignment with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF) and Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS). The Teacher Assistant helps build strong, respectful relationships with children and families and serves as key bilingual support between the classroom and families. This includes translating during conversations between children, families, and staff; conducting developmental observations and assessments in the home language; and entering assessment data into Teaching Strategies GOLD (TS GOLD). The Teacher Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring culturally and linguistically responsive practices throughout the classroom environment.
This is a full-time, benefited position. This position will work Monday - Friday 7:45am - 4:15pm. This position will work in Boulder or Lafayette. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $37,620.00 - $54,144.00 Annually
Tentative Hiring Timeline:
Phone Screening: August 12th

- Assist the Teacher in implementing lesson plans and daily classroom routines that support the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children.
- Help create a safe, clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment that aligns with Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) and CO licensing regulations.
- Participate in the observation and documentation of children’s progress using approved assessment tools.
- Support positive child behavior and use developmentally appropriate guidance techniques under the direction of the Teacher.
- Build warm, supportive relationships with children and families, and assist in maintaining effective communication with families.
- Participate in home visits, parent-teacher conferences, and family engagement activities, as appropriate.
- Ensure constant active supervision of children indoors and outdoors.
- Collaborate with classroom team members and other program staff to ensure integrated and inclusive services for all children.
- Assist in meal service, cleanup, toileting, and other routines to support children’s health and independence.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, reflective supervision, coaching, and training.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of a current Child Development Associate (CDA) certification or be willing to enroll in a CDA program upon hire and obtain within 1 year of hire and at least one year (1,820 hours) of verified experience with preschool children.
BACKGROUND CHECK & FINGERPRINTING:
- A job offer is contingent on passing a background investigation with fingerprinting - All BCHS positions require 4 background checks per CO State Licensing regulations and Head Start
- Performance Standards. The 4 required background checks are: FBI, CBI, TRAILS, and Sex Offender.
BILINGUAL SKILLS:
Applicants must demonstrate English and Spanish fluency at the time of the pre-employment screening process. Spanish language proficiency will be determined through standardized demonstration.
Additional compensation will be provided based on the use of bilingual skills.
Supplemental information:
- Current PDIS Early Childhood Professional Credential 2.0 or 3.0
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire
- Current MyTeaching Strategies Inner-Rater Reliability for Preschool, including Dual Language Learners and Children with Disabilities or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire

Head Start experience
Experience with TS Gold and Creative Curriculum
