Job Overview:

Responsible for processing patient specimens, preparing cytopathology slides, and providing general support for pathology service. Enter patient information into the computer system with high accuracy, maintain logs, and organize documents / slide storage. Provide support to other laboratory sections when requested. Follow patient confidentiality and laboratory safety protocols. Must have excellent communication skills, telephone etiquette, attention to detail, and at least 2 years of relevant experience

Qualification

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Biology and other science classes preferred. Successful completion of all orientation

Essential Functions:

  • Performs all manual technical procedures assigned to designate department
  • Responsible for filing of cytology slides, cell-blocks, final patient’s reports, and reports from outside consultation
  • Operate laboratory instrumentation assigned to designate department, including troubleshooting
  • Maintenance and documentation procedures as requirement
  • Responsible for the identification of patients specimens
  • Proper documentation of specimen criteria of acceptability in compliance with all hospital safety standard and regulatory agency requirement
  • Must have good reasoning ability, organize work, Meet deadline and willing to alter working schedule as required
  • Complies with all standard precaution, infection control, fire safety, right to know
  • Bio/hazardous waste procedures as required by hospital and regulatory agencies
  • Responsible for accessioning for specimens and patient clinical data into LIS/Copath computer system
  • Printing and correlation of workdraft sheet, Final cytology/history reports as needed.
  • Responsible for filing of cytology slides, cell-blocks, final patient’s reports, and reports from outside consultation
