POSITION PURPOSE
This position is to perform cleaning and sanitation duties of the Haak’u Health facilities, while keeping a positive, customer-service orientated demeanor with all staff and guests.
ESSENTIAL, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all inclusive.
- Vacuums, sweeps, mops, scrubs, applies floor finish and polishes floor surfaces throughout the clinic facilities including stairways and elevators. Work is done by hand or with powered equipment, some of which require a training period. Keeps a stock of cleaning materials and equipment needed to do the work and report all supplies when low.
- Maintains custodial equipment by cleaning, oiling, or adjusting machines to assure maximum use. Reports all major repairs to the supervisors. Maintains other supplies in a similar manner.
- Empty waste baskets, trash containers from offices and refuse (regular trash) containers from patient rooms throughout the clinic facility. Takes the refuse outside to be put either in trash compactors or trash dumpsters.
- Wash windows (inside and out) within the clinic facility, dusts blinds, high dust, washes walls, dusts vents, cleans light fixtures in all areas on a routine basis and when planned. These duties require climbing and standing on ladders. Washes chairs and cushions in waiting areas.
- Keeps restrooms in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. Sweeps, vacuums, scrubs, and waxes floors. Cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls. Cleans mirrors, dispensers, vents, and water fountains. Dusts ledges and woodwork. Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soaps. Removes graffiti as soon as possible utilizing appropriate chemicals.
- Responsible for assisting in moving heavy items, such as furniture, exam tables, and cabinets in patients care areas.
- Washes and disinfects all discharge and transfer beds, bedside tables, stands, mattresses, and other determined equipment that is used for treatment of patients. Removes and hangs cubicle and shower curtains.
- Cleans per clinic and department specific protocols for contamination of isolation rooms.
- Read, understand and distinguish isolation room placards to follow procedural cleaning process. Responsible for knowing when and how to don PPE for protection of self from transmittable diseases, viruses, and harmful bacteria. Responsible for using special safety techniques and special required materials for cleaning the Operating Room Suite, Labor/Delivery Room, Nursery, Obstetric Unit, Intensive Care Units, dental, laboratory, medical imaging.
- Performs terminal cleaning of rooms including postmortem procedures and body holding area when asked by security or other management officials.
- Assures segregation of regular waste and regulated medical waste (RMW) including sharps. Properly transport RMW in accordance with OSHA and clinic Infection Control Policies to storage areas. Also follows policy on Standard Precautions in removing soiled linen.
- Transports clean linen from the linen supply room to the various patient wards. Gathers soiled linen bags from patient rooms and transports to soiled linen area for pick-up by commercial laundry. Laundry may constitute a heavy load while unloading.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: One (1) year direct work experience in custodial services and/or healthcare services
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency (HSE)
- Valid, unrestricted insurable driver’s license
- Must pass health and background screenings
POSITION PREFERENCES
- Professional work experience with Native American populations.
- Native American preference.

Located in beautiful Acoma Pueblo, 57 miles west of Albuquerque.
Pay: Dependent on Experience (DOE)
