Primary Objective

The Cabinet Installation & Electrical Testing Technician is responsible for performing the final assembly steps, quality inspections, and functional electrical testing of completed traffic control cabinets. This role requires strong electrical skills to ensure products meet safety, reliability, and quality standards before delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Electrical Assembly & Testing

• Read and interpret point-to-point electrical diagrams, bills of material, and production instructions.

• Assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical assemblies within traffic control cabinets.

• Accurately terminate, route, and secure wires at designated locations per electrical schematics.

• Solder wires to specified points and rework wiring harnesses when required.

• Perform functional testing on completed assemblies to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Inspection & Quality Assurance

• Conduct final quality checks and inspections of electrical systems and cabinet assemblies.

• Sign and assume responsibility for final inspection certificates.

• Maintain detailed records for timekeeping, inventory tracking, and quality control.

Tools & Equipment Use

• Safely operate powered and unpowered hand tools, including drills, screwdrivers, wire cutters, crimpers, and wrenches.

• Cut, strip, and terminate wire with precision to meet production specifications.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for processes, safety, and efficiency.

• Work effectively in a team environment to meet production schedules and quality goals.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• Associate’s degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred; or equivalent experience with electrical schematics and systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong aptitude for working with electronic control equipment.

• Skilled in assembling and troubleshooting electrical systems and wire harnesses.

• Ability to use soldering techniques and termination connectors accurately.

• High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands repetitively.

• Intermittently required to lift up to 50 lbs. and handle up to 150 lbs.

• May be required to sit, talk, or hear while working with tools or electrical components.

• Work is performed in a production environment with adherence to safety protocols.
