POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to support the development, certification, and sustainment of advanced avionics with a primary focus on GNSS-based navigation systems. This role encompasses typical program/project management responsibilities plus performance of some project work as well as product strategy and product lifecycle management.
This is a hands-on role requiring leadership, management, and technical contribution. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and comfortable working in a highly dynamic environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and keep them within scope, on schedule, and at or below budget.
- Work closely with internal engineering teams and with external engineering teams at client companies.
- Advise company leadership on project status and provide timely updates on any issues, risks, or constraints.
- Facilitate communication between engineering, certification, manufacturing, quality, and leadership teams.
- Coordinate with other internal and external project stakeholders.
- Write process documents, service bulletins, manuals, etc. on an as-needed basis.
- Prepare and submit to the FAA applications for initial TSO authorization and notifications of minor changes to a TSO article.
- Lead development of the GNSS product strategy and translate it into actionable project plans.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Aviation, Technical Management, or related field is strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of program/project management experience in aerospace, avionics, or similar technical industry is required.
- PMI certification is preferred.
- Effective leadership, management, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills are required.
- Moderate technical/engineering skill and the ability to work directly with internal and external engineering teams are required.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including Project, is required.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Altium, etc.) is preferred.
- Basic technical understanding of GNSS (GPS, SBAS, and Galileo) is preferred.
- Familiarity with RTCA DO-178 and DO-254 processes is preferred.
- Familiarity with FAA TSO and STC processes is preferred.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Standing and sitting for extended periods of time,
- Lifting up to 25 pounds in a safe and prudent manner,
- Ability to work and communicate well with other employees and management,
- Ability to perform work utilizing manual dexterity of the hands,
- Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, reach above and below shoulders, and full use of upper extremities,
- Ability to easily move through an approximately 25,000 square foot warehouse building,
- Ability to read, write, and understand English,
- Correctable vision and hearing.
