This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Structural Project Engineer in the United States.
This role focuses on leading the structural design and delivery of complex waterway infrastructure projects, including locks, dams, hydraulic steel structures, pump stations, and waterfront systems. You will contribute to the full project lifecycle, from early-stage investigations and conceptual design through detailed engineering, construction documentation, and field support. The position requires deep technical expertise in structural engineering combined with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and engage directly with clients and contractors. You will play a key role in ensuring technical quality, safety, and compliance across highly specialized infrastructure projects. The environment is collaborative and technically driven, offering exposure to large-scale, impactful civil works. This role also provides opportunities for professional leadership, including mentoring junior engineers and contributing to industry standards and best practices.
- Lead the structural design of complex waterway and hydraulic infrastructure, including dams, locks, gates, pump stations, and waterfront structures.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, construction documents, plans, and technical specifications.
- Review and ensure quality and accuracy of design deliverables produced by junior engineers and CAD designers.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Perform advanced structural analysis using engineering software such as SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, or equivalent tools.
- Support construction-phase services, including design clarification and field engineering input.
- Contribute to engineering standards, procedures, and best practices through professional committees or industry involvement.
- Serve as Engineer of Record and potentially stamp and sign engineering documents as required.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure project delivery aligns with scope, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
- 7+ years of experience in structural engineering, preferably on complex infrastructure or water-related projects.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months preferred.
- Strong proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000 or STAAD.Pro.
- Familiarity with US Army Corps of Engineers design standards and dam safety guidelines is a strong plus.
- Proven ability to manage technical design work and review complex engineering deliverables.
- Strong understanding of construction documentation and engineering design processes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Ability to occasionally travel for site visits and project meetings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in high-complexity engineering environments.
