Description:

HTI is recruiting for an experienced Operations Manager to lead either the Welding or Paint department for a growing structural steel manufacturing operation in Greenville, SC. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for someone who thrives in fast-paced industrial environments and has a strong background in manufacturing operations, team leadership, and continuous improvement.

What You Need

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, or production management
  • Background in structural steel, heavy industrial manufacturing, fabrication, welding, or industrial paint/coating operations
  • Proven ability to lead supervisors, team leads, and hourly production employees
  • Experience driving KPIs related to production, efficiency, quality, downtime, and safety
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to read fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and production work orders
  • Experience working with ERP systems and production reporting tools
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • OSHA or related safety training is preferred

What Your Role Will Look Like

  • Oversee daily operations within the Welding or Paint department to ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety expectations are met
  • Lead and mentor supervisors and production personnel to drive accountability and performance
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, QA, Scheduling, and Maintenance teams to support production timelines and operational priorities
  • Monitor and improve KPIs including throughput, downtime, efficiency, and rework rates
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, safety, and cost reduction
  • Ensure proper labor planning, shift coverage, and material readiness
  • Promote a strong culture of safety and operational excellence on the production floor
  • Support onboarding and development of skilled trades employees and apprentices
  • Assist with departmental planning, budgeting, and workforce development initiatives
  • Communicate operational updates, priorities, and improvement opportunities with leadership

This position is primarily based on the manufacturing floor and requires regular interaction with production teams in an industrial environment.
