Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

Lead, coordinate, and provide direction and guidance while effectively utilizing all assigned resources to optimize product quality and maximize efficiency in the Shipping, Receiving, and Materials area. Oversee and maintain accurate records of all shipping, receiving, and inventory activity, including updating inventory records and compiling cycle counts for management. Lead and support continuous improvement, training, and coaching of employees, while performing the essential job functions related to the assigned area. This role promotes a positive environment that fosters teamwork and ensures safe, efficient, and well-organized processes and procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Provides daily work direction, training, and guidance to assigned personnel to ensure full understanding of, and compliance with, prescribed methods and procedures in the Shipping, Receiving, and Materials area.
  • Monitors work quality and productivity throughout the assigned area to ensure a quality product is produced in the allotted time frame; works with the team to actively reduce scrap and rework.
  • Works closely with Plant Leadership and Production Planning to ensure prompt, effective responses to customer requirements and timely exchange of accurate information.
  • Keeps management informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management; coordinates assigned area plans and activities to ensure a coordinated "team" approach.
  • Anticipates and addresses causes of potential delays or defects and implements corrective actions.
  • Responsible for the work, productivity, earned hours, and employees in their area.
  • Participates in, supports, and fosters a continuous improvement culture, including drive housekeeping, organization, and 5S efforts in the assigned area.
  • Provides on-the-job training to employees in the department and identifies training deficiencies.
  • Follows safe shop practices, identifies safety risks, and implements improvements.
  • Maintains and cares for all shop tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Conforms to the company quality system as documented, and addresses deviations from standard work or policies not being followed.
  • Receives and processes material orders daily, including accepting deliveries, labeling them, and distributing packages.
  • Coordinates deliveries to customers and clients daily, including boxing goods, addressing packages, and staying in contact with shipping companies.
  • Maintains the company inventory by cleaning, organizing, and labeling items on a regular basis, and keeps material and paperwork in order and organized.
  • Keeps records of goods shipped and received, preparing regular shipping and receiving reports for management.
  • Places merchandise in inventory by boxing and lifting items as necessary, and operating forklifts and/or pallet jacks for large items.
  • Schedules large shipments and coordinates logistics to ensure adequate storage space and personnel to manage incoming shipments.
  • Oversees the issuance and transfer of finished goods, and ensures product is shipped according to customer requirements.
  • Ensures control of non-conforming products.
  • Operates a forklift truck as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by site leadership.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Able to understand shop and customer/mechanical requirements. Computer experience and knowledge using Microsoft programs.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Experience leading a team; Shipping and Receiving experience required, with a minimum of 1 year in a shipping/receiving or materials role.

    SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ability to learn JobBOSS manufacturing software. Forklift driver certification.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS

    PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally.

    LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
