Job Description

THE ROLE: Secondary Electrical Qualifier (Independent Contractor)
Spruce Power is one of the nation's leading owner-operators of distributed residential solar energy assets, serving more than 100,000 customers across the United States. In addition to managing its own portfolio, Spruce provides comprehensive, end-to-end asset servicing solutions for third-party owners, including financial asset management, customer account services, billing and payment administration, field operations, fleet management, technical support, and customer care.
Spruce Power is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, with primary operations in Houston, Texas, New Jersey, and Southern California. This role supports Spruce's New Jersey operations by serving as the designated backup Licensed Electrical Contractor of Record, providing business continuity should the primary Electrical Qualifier become unavailable.
Spruce is seeking an Electrical Qualifier to serve as the company's designated backup Licensed Electrical Contractor of Record for the State of New Jersey. This position is intended to provide business continuity by maintaining a qualified individual who can assume the responsibilities of the primary Electrical Qualifier, if needed. While the primary qualifier retains day-to-day responsibility for licensing oversight and regulatory compliance, this role will maintain familiarity with Spruce's operations, support compliance initiatives as appropriate, and be prepared to transition into the primary qualifying representative role should the need arise.
Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Serve as Spruce Power's designated backup Electrical Qualifier in accordance with New Jersey licensing requirements.
  • Maintain all licenses, registrations, certifications, and continuing education required to remain eligible to serve as the company's Electrical Qualifier.
  • Remain available to assume the role of primary Electrical Qualifier should the designated primary qualifier become unavailable.
  • Maintain a general familiarity with Spruce's New Jersey operations and applicable regulatory requirements to facilitate an orderly transition if activation becomes necessary.
  • Participate in periodic status meetings or compliance reviews, as reasonably requested, to maintain awareness of company operations and regulatory obligations.
  • Execute documents, licensing applications, or regulatory filings necessary to maintain the company's licensing status when requested.
  • Provide technical or regulatory consultation on an as-needed basis, as mutually agreed.
  • Support the transition of qualifying responsibilities during planned or unplanned changes to the company's designated Electrical Qualifier.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary company information and comply with the terms of the independent contractor agreement.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Active New Jersey Master Electrician License in good standing, with the ability to serve as the company's designated Electrical Qualifier.
  • Meets all applicable New Jersey licensing requirements to act as the Electrical Contractor of Record.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical industry experience, with experience serving as an Electrical Qualifier, Master Electrician, or in a comparable leadership or compliance role preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), New Jersey electrical regulations, and applicable local code requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of electrical permitting, inspections, licensing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to review and interpret electrical plans, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with regulatory agencies and company leadership.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and regulatory support on an as-needed basis.
  • Willingness to maintain required licenses, certifications, and continuing education necessary to remain qualified.
  • Ability to enter into an independent contractor agreement and remain reasonably available to assume qualifying responsibilities if requested.
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Active New Jersey Master Electrician License in good standing.
