Job Description
Provides direct patient care based on standards of care and policies and procedures. The Specialty Clinics LPN provides support services to outpatient and specialty clinic providers as well as support for outreaching providers when they are scheduled for clinics. Provides patient assistance rooming patients, including for telemedicine visits. Helps fulfill department responsibilities by assisting and filling in for the Specialty Clinics Coordinators, or patient access staff in their duties, and the scheduling department with prior authorizations as needed. Data entry, data retrieval and clinical organization are required for this position.
- Provides optimal patient care for enhancement of the patient care experience.
- Greets and assists patients, providers, staff, and visitors in a courteous manner, to ensure the clinic operates efficiently.
- Applies, manages and carries out Plans of Care to promote health and wellness for patients and families.
- Uses interactive communication skills with patients and families, peers, and providers to promote, evaluate and direct patient care and relationships with others.
- Maintains and promotes quality of care that is safe, reliable and patient centered.
- Appropriately carries out tasks delegated to them by management or providers and assists and directs unlicensed personnel to provide direct patient care.
- Consistently acquires and maintains current knowledge in nursing practice by attending educational opportunities, in order to apply best practices and advance patient care.
- Promotes teamwork by sharing knowledge and skills with others and participating on committees to promote patient care, safety and performance improvement.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus one (1) year of technical training; one (1) year of clinic work experience preferred.
REQUIRED CREDENTIALS (License, certification, registration):
BLS, and current LPN license in State of MN or current CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) certification.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Skills in communication, and customer service with patients and family is necessary.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Prior experience working in a clinic, preferably in a clinic setting.
- Demonstrates knowledge and competency of nursing practice and skills.
EMPLOYMENT VARIABLES:
Three days a week (0.6 FTE), weekday shifts as needed to provide coverage. Scheduled days may vary dependent upon staffing availability. May be required to work longer than an 8-hour shift if clinics run late. May be invited to volunteer at community or organizational events to help promote clinic services.
