Job Description

SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance operations of the facility to ensure equipment reliability, production efficiency, and a safe working environment. This position supervises maintenance personnel, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance activities, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and works closely with Operations, Engineering, and Plant Leadership to minimize downtime and maximize equipment performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises, coaches, and develops a team of maintenance employees, including assigning work, monitoring performance, and providing ongoing training and support.
  • Coordinates and oversees daily maintenance activities to ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment installations.
  • Maintains a hands-on presence within the facility and assists maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and resolving complex equipment issues when needed.
  • Prioritizes maintenance work orders and resources to support production requirements while minimizing downtime.
  • Ensures preventive maintenance schedules are properly managed, executed, and documented through the company’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Monitors equipment performance and maintenance trends to identify opportunities for reliability improvements and cost reduction.
  • Collaborates with Operations, Engineering, and Plant Leadership to address equipment concerns and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supports root cause analysis investigations and implements corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment failures.
  • Coordinates the procurement of maintenance parts, tools, and supplies while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
  • Maintains organized maintenance shops, work areas, spare parts inventory, and maintenance records.
  • Ensures maintenance activities are performed in compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable environmental requirements.
  • Conducts regular safety meetings, safety inspections, and job hazard assessments with maintenance personnel.
  • Assists with capital projects, equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and new equipment installations.
  • Participates in cross-functional meetings and collaborates with maintenance teams across facilities to share best practices.
  • Supports employee performance management activities, including coaching, performance reviews, attendance management, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Tracks maintenance key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepares reports for leadership review.
  • Maintains availability to support maintenance-related emergencies and critical operational needs outside of regular business hours as required.
  • Other duties may be assigned when needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree in Industrial Technology, Maintenance Management, Business Administration, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in maintenance planning, maintenance coordination, CMMS administration, purchasing, inventory control, manufacturing operations, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS

Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals, equipment documentation, vendor quotations, purchasing records, and business correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate with employees, vendors, contractors, and management.

Computer: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) required. ERP experience preferred.

Reasoning: Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple maintenance activities simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to analyze maintenance data and identify opportunities for improvement.

Other: Strong organizational, planning, scheduling, and time management skills required. Excellent attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to build effective working relationships across departments and with external vendors.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT), Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), or equivalent certification preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing this job, the employee must frequently use their hands to handle, grip or feel objects and must frequently talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
