As a Senior Embedded Coder, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and validating embedded firmware solutions while ensuring compliance with aerospace software standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to design robust systems, improve development processes, and deliver high-quality software products.
- Develop new firmware and enhance existing embedded software solutions throughout the complete software development lifecycle.
- Design, document, and support software architectures, development plans, and technical specifications.
- Program and configure embedded systems using ARM Cortex and 16-bit PIC microcontrollers.
- Develop and maintain software components involving communication protocols such as RS485, SPI, I2C, 1553, ARINC 429, ARINC 825, and CAN.
- Implement and support non-volatile memory solutions, EEPROM emulation, ROM management, and configuration storage.
- Apply cybersecurity requirements, including secure boot protection, image verification, and non-volatile memory security.
- Build and maintain CI/CD workflows using GitLab pipelines to support automated testing and software quality.
- Develop and utilize bootloaders while applying effective debugging methodologies using tools such as JTAG and SWD.
- Support software testing, analysis, and development activities using tools including LabVIEW, Python, Excel, and MATLAB/Octave.
- Generate technical documentation and software deliverables required for development and certification processes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to engineering best practices.
The ideal candidate brings strong embedded software development experience, knowledge of safety-critical systems, and the ability to work across hardware and software environments. You should be comfortable working independently, solving complex technical problems, and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5–7 years of experience in embedded software development or related engineering roles.
- U.S. citizenship required due to ITAR, CUI, and NOFORN compliance requirements.
- Strong experience with embedded programming languages, particularly C-based development environments.
- Experience with DO-178 software development processes and certification requirements.
- Knowledge of software architecture design, planning, documentation, and verification practices.
- Experience with firmware debugging tools and methodologies.
- Familiarity with MISRA-C coding standards and static analysis practices.
- Experience developing and supporting bootloader solutions.
- Knowledge of Agile and waterfall software development methodologies.
- Understanding of MCU selection and embedded system design considerations.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Kaizen, 5S, or Six Sigma is a plus.
- Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Competitive base salary range of $128,200 – $192,300 USD, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
