This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a IATF Automotive Auditor based in United States.
This is a remote, travel-intensive opportunity for an experienced automotive quality professional to conduct third-party management system audits.
You will serve as a trusted technical partner to clients, assessing their quality systems against IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and applicable industry requirements.
The role combines independent auditing, client interaction, technical reporting, and leadership across complex assessment programs.
You will help organizations identify nonconformities, strengthen corrective actions, and improve the effectiveness of their quality management systems.
The position also offers opportunities to mentor auditors, contribute to training and technical programs, and support multi-facility client engagements.
Success requires strong judgment, analytical ability, communication skills, and confidence operating in diverse industrial environments.
Extensive travel is expected, typically involving 3–5 overnight stays per week at client sites across the United States and potentially internationally.
- Lead and/or participate in third-party assessments of client management systems, primarily against IATF 16949 and ISO 9001, in accordance with accredited certification programs.
- Serve as the primary client interface before and throughout audit activities, coordinating schedules, expectations, documentation, and assessment requirements.
- Evaluate quality management systems against applicable standards, customer requirements, industry expectations, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Review client documentation, identify and document evidence of conformity and nonconformity, and prepare comprehensive audit reports and findings.
- Assess corrective actions and support clients through requirements resulting from surveillance audits and other assessments.
- Coordinate audit activities with assessment team members, certification coordinators, and other internal stakeholders to ensure effective and consistent delivery.
- Lead audits independently or serve as a member of an assessment team, including oversight of multi-facility client programs.
- Present audit results and recommendations to clients and, when required, certification boards or other relevant stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance, education, and support to clients, sales teams, and developing auditors on quality management and audit-related topics.
- Mentor less-experienced auditors through witness audits, technical assistance, and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to technical writing, program development, internal knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of audit processes.
- Maintain compliance with applicable operating, safety, ethical, and professional standards while working across varied industrial environments.
- Travel extensively to client facilities, including overnight and multi-day assignments, with the potential for international travel.
- 4+ years of relevant full-time practical experience, including at least 2 years focused on Quality Assurance and/or Quality Management activities within the past 15 years, preferably in automotive manufacturing or a comparable industry.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, with demonstrated understanding of automotive quality management principles and practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of automotive core tools and the ability to evaluate complex quality systems objectively.
- Experience or qualification to conduct IATF 16949 third-party audits is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical and judgment skills, with the ability to gather, evaluate, and document factual evidence fairly and accurately.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical findings clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, organization, time management, and problem-solving capabilities, particularly when managing multiple assignments or working under pressure.
- Ability to understand complex operations from a broad business and technical perspective.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with assessment teams, clients, and internal stakeholders.
- Experience with accredited Lead Auditor training, IRCA or RABQSA Assessor certification, CQA, or CQE certification is advantageous.
- Familiarity with relevant quality, regulatory, compliance, and industry requirements is beneficial.
- Experience in related industries such as aerospace, telecommunications, rail, industrial/off-road equipment, or comparable manufacturing environments may be considered.
- Familiarity with international auditing or the ability to travel internationally is a plus.
- Valid, unrestricted driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle for business purposes.
- Must reside in and be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Comfortable with extensive travel, industrial environments, and physical activities associated with facility assessments, including walking for extended periods, climbing stairs/ladders, bending, reaching, and similar activities.
- Ability to read technical documentation, inspect equipment and facilities, work with computer systems and reports, and communicate effectively in person and in writing.
