This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Reporter, Electricity based in the United States.

This is an opportunity for an experienced journalist to become a leading voice on electricity and the future of energy.
You will explain how the power system connects major stories across AI, manufacturing, climate, economics, technology, and politics.
The role combines fast-paced reporting with the opportunity to develop original scoops, ambitious ideas, and authoritative analysis.
You will contribute to a daily newsletter and special editorial projects covering topics such as solar power, batteries, and grid modernization.
Beyond writing, you will represent the publication publicly through events, live interviews, and industry conversations.
The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, highly curious, and skilled at turning complex subjects into compelling, accessible stories.
You will join a collaborative, inclusive newsroom that values sharp writing, ambitious journalism, and meaningful impact.

Accountabilities:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and authoritative journalist covering electricity, energy infrastructure, and the evolving power system.
  • Contribute to a daily future-of-energy newsletter and special editions, reporting on topics including solar power, batteries, grid upgrades, and emerging electricity trends.
  • Identify and pursue major stories, original scoops, and high-impact editorial ideas that connect electricity to broader business, technology, climate, economic, and political developments.
  • Translate complex grid and energy issues into clear, engaging stories that are accessible and relevant to a broad audience.
  • Develop a strong public presence by representing the newsroom at conferences, events, panels, and live interviews.
  • Collaborate across editorial and other teams to develop high-quality, timely content and execute ambitious storytelling projects.
  • Apply concise, audience-focused writing principles to online and newsletter content while maintaining strong journalistic standards.
  • Help foster a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative working environment.
Requirements:
  • Proven reporting experience in a fast-paced news environment, with a strong track record of producing timely, high-quality journalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to land significant scoops and develop original, ambitious story ideas.
  • Strong interest or expertise in electricity, energy markets, power infrastructure, or the broader future of energy.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex topics involving the grid, energy technologies, and their connections to business, technology, climate, economics, and politics.
  • Excellent writing skills, particularly for digital and newsletter audiences, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills, including the ability to command a stage and conduct compelling live interviews.
  • Experience collaborating across teams and working effectively in a fast-paced editorial environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, curiosity, initiative, and the ability to identify opportunities for impactful journalism.
  • Commitment to an inclusive workplace and to building and nurturing a diverse professional environment.
  • Willingness to develop AI literacy and responsibly use AI tools to improve productivity, creativity, research, and editorial workflows.

  • Starting salary range of $100,000–$150,000, depending on location, experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
