Position Overview
We are seeking a responsible, safety-minded individual to join our team as Haunt Tractor Driver for our fall haunted attractions season. Each year during September and October, our cider mill transforms into a hub of thrilling, spine-chilling entertainment, hosting a variety of haunted experiences for guests of all ages. As a Haunt Tractor Driver, you will safely operate a tractor and wagon along a designated route, carrying guests through the attraction while our cast brings the scares to life around them.
This is a temporary, seasonal position ideal for individuals experienced with tractors or similar equipment who take safety seriously and enjoy being part of a high-energy Halloween season.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Safely operate a tractor and attached wagon along a designated route to transport guests through the attraction
- Conduct a pre-shift inspection of the tractor and wagon for safety and mechanical issues
- Maintain a safe, controlled speed appropriate to guest safety and performer proximity
- Communicate with haunt staff, actors, and guests as needed throughout each run
- Follow all established routes, timing, and designated stops
- Assist guests with safely boarding and exiting the wagon
- Monitor guests for safety concerns throughout the ride
- Report any mechanical issues, hazards, or concerns to a supervisor immediately
- Follow all safety protocols related to performer and special-effect activity near the vehicle
- Maintain a clean and orderly tractor and wagon between runs
Education, Skills & Knowledge
- Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid driver's license
- Prior experience operating tractors, farm equipment, or similar vehicles preferred
- Clean driving record
- Comfortable driving at night in varying weather and low-light conditions
- Strong attention to safety and guest well-being
- Ability to commit to the full September–October season, including all Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings
- Reliable, punctual, and professional — attendance is critical to our team's success
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and follow directional cues from staff
Working Conditions
- Outdoor work in varying fall weather conditions, including cold and wet weather
- Extended periods operating machinery at night in low-light conditions
- Tolerance for strobe lights, fog machines, loud sound effects, and other special effects near the route
- Comfort working near costumed performers and haunted attraction activity
Availability Requirements
Candidates must be available to work every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening throughout the entire September and October season. Shifts will run from early evening through late-night hours. Specific shift times will be communicated prior to the season start. Attendance at mandatory pre-season training (typically held in late August or early September) is also required.
