JOB SUMMARY
  • Under the direct supervision of the Quality Director, the Quality Control Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the daily operations of the Quality Control Department, including the direction, management, and development of department employees. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring adherence to established department, organization, and customer specification parameters.
  • This position is full-time on-site in Rochester, NY. In order for a candidate to be considered they must be local to Rochester, NY. Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available for this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Promote and support the requirements and principles of the Precise Quality Management System and AS9100.
  • Manage the daily operations of the Quality Control Department, including assigning work, supervising and developing employees, and ensuring departmental responsibilities are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Plan and direct the daily activities of the quality department to ensure adherence to established department, organization, and customer specification parameters.
  • Assist in developing inspection priorities and balances individual workloads to insure effective use of resources.
  • Perform problem solving or trouble shooting for the inspection process, CMM programming, and gaging issues.
  • Assist in the quality assurance training of machine operators, and newly hired personnel.
  • Support training for inspectors to ensure that skills and performance meet the organization’s needs.
  • Oversee first article, in-process, shop floor, and final inspections, while performing inspections as needed.
  • Participate in production and scheduling meetings, as required, to ensure resources are in place to meet production needs.
  • Manage the customer interface on nonconforming material; submits and tracks deviation requests.
  • Maintain the calibration system.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • With limited supervision and quality work ethic, functions as a member of a customer-driven quality team whose goal is to ensure that product quality requirements established by the customer have been achieved.
  • Must be able to manage a team to meet deadlines and mange workflow.
  • Ability to work directly with Quality Director to achieve department objectives.
  • Holds oneself accountable for doing whatever is needed to meet the commitments made around project outcomes.
  • Maintains adequate levels of performance and motivation despite job tasks that are routine or repetitive.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directives.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to adhere to deadlines and the ability to be flexible.
  • Thorough operational knowledge and skills of specific equipment to be operated, including inspection equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, as needed.
  • Must use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Statistical Process Control, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Pc-DMIS.
  • Must be able to program coordinate measuring machine (CMM) using Pc-DMIS.
  • Must be able to perform open plate inspection using standard measuring equipment and methods.
  • Must be able to gain full knowledge of company systems, processes, and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 15 years of experience in inspecting precision machined metal parts
  • 10 years of experience in programming inspection for precision machined parts on a CMM using Pc-DMIS

According to the New York Pay Transparency law, pay range for this job is $70,000-$100,000 per year. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
