Job Description
Job Summary: Reporting to the Director and the Staff Vice President, the Interventional Procedures (IP) manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the Interventional Cardiology, Interventional Radiology, Electrophysiology, Neuro-interventional, and OpCare Recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Budgetary oversight
- Promoting patient health and safety by developing day to day management and long-term planning of the procedure areas, including enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, controlled substance regulations and infection control.
- Development of policies and procedures, equipment capitals and participates in budget process.
- Implement quality improvement practices including annual performance improvement projects.
- Work closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure the highest standards of quality and service are maintained
- Monitors vendors access to the department and to ensure they are compliant in all hospital procedures and policies.
- Hire and evaluate new staff, provide for orientation, in-service training, continuing education, and annual evaluation of all personnel in their department(s).
- Oversee any disciplinary processes and termination of employees in their department(s) in collaboration with Director and Staff Vice President
- Ensure adequate staffing and effective utilization of resources. Monitors the daily procedural schedule to promote efficiency and safety.
- Maintain efficient and effective department operations while requiring compliance with Joint Commission, State, Federal and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols
- Assume an active leadership role with the hospital's senior leadership, medical staff, management, and other clinical leaders in the hospital's decision-making structure and process
- Promote and maintain harmonious relationships among personnel, physician, patients, and the public
- Plan and maintain staffing and schedules to ensure adequate coverage for PTO, makes recommendation or long-range planning.
- Implement and evaluate effective ongoing programs to measure, analyze, and improve the quality of care, treatment, and services delivered to patients
- Conducts himself or herself as a professional role model, being a clinical resource for and acting as a liaison with the medical staff
- Works collaboratively with others to oversee/manage inventory and equipment usage and need. Outdate logs, equipment Q/C and staff competencies are well maintained.
- Coordinates with the Purchasing Department for new product requests to verify pricing is appropriate. Maintains service and consignment contracts within Meditract.
Experience/Training:
- Minimum of three years of experience as a nurse or technologist in interventional cardiology/radiology
- Two years of management experience preferred.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited State Board of Nursing; or
- Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Healthcare preferred.
License/Certification:
- Licensure/Certification/Registration to practice in trained clinical area as required by the State of Wisconsin
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ALS (Advanced Life Support) certification required at date of hire, or able to acquire within 3 months of hire.
