Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Host/Hostess creates the first impression of the restaurant by providing warm, professional, and attentive hospitality to every guest. This role manages the arrival experience, reservations, seating flow, and guest communication while ensuring a smooth and efficient front-of-house operation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Welcome and greet guests with a warm, professional, and hospitable approach.
  • Manage reservations, waitlists, and seating assignments to optimize table flow and guest satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with servers, management, and culinary teams to ensure efficient service and communication.
  • Answer phone calls, provide restaurant information, and assist with reservation inquiries.
  • Accommodate guest requests, special occasions, and seating preferences while maintaining operational standards.
  • Monitor dining room flow and assist in maintaining an organized and efficient guest experience.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional host stand and reception area.
  • Support opening, closing, and side-work duties as needed.
  • Uphold the restaurant’s standards for hospitality, professionalism, and guest satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1–2 years of host/hostess experience in an upscale or fine dining restaurant preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Professional appearance and polished demeanor.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Ability to move efficiently throughout the dining room and host area.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motions while completing service duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment with moderate to high noise levels.
  • Ability to work around dining room traffic, kitchen activity, and varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
