This role is a key leadership position responsible for driving the successful delivery of complex construction and renovation projects across a dynamic academic environment. The Senior Project Manager oversees initiatives ranging from small facility upgrades to large-scale capital developments, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulations. The position requires close coordination with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to define scope, manage risks, and maintain high-quality standards. It plays a critical role in shaping safe, accessible, and modern campus facilities that support students, faculty, and staff. With significant autonomy, the role demands strong decision-making, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple high-impact projects simultaneously. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and focused on continuous improvement of infrastructure and processes.
- Lead end-to-end management of complex renovation, remodeling, and new construction projects from initiation through design, execution, and closeout, ensuring alignment with project goals and institutional needs
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and campus stakeholders to define scope, budgets, design criteria, schedules, and execution plans
- Manage project risks proactively, addressing issues that may impact timelines, costs, or quality outcomes
- Oversee compliance with building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements at local, state, and federal levels
- Prepare estimates, specifications, drawings, bid documentation, and procurement materials while supporting contract development and approval processes
- Monitor project budgets, expenditures, schedules, and documentation to ensure transparency and control throughout the lifecycle
- Conduct site inspections, review contractor submissions, lead meetings, and ensure proper execution of construction activities
- Approve change orders, authorize payments, and ensure successful project commissioning and closeout
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, business, or a related field with at least four years of relevant facilities or construction project management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction specifications
- Proven experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously in fast-paced environments
- Demonstrated capability in risk management, scheduling, budgeting, and project monitoring
- Proficiency with construction and project management tools; familiarity with AutoCAD and estimating tools is a plus
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to coordinate contractors and cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment in decision-making
- Experience in public-sector construction or higher education environments is preferred
