Senior iOS Mobile Developer - Backbase

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior iOS Mobile Developer - Backbase based in Canada.

This role sits at the intersection of mobile engineering and digital banking innovation, focusing on building secure, scalable, and high-performance iOS applications for leading financial institutions. You will contribute to the development and enhancement of modern digital banking experiences powered by the Backbase platform, helping banks and credit unions deliver seamless customer journeys. Working in a fully remote, client-facing environment across the Americas, you will collaborate closely with designers, product managers, architects, and stakeholders to translate complex business needs into elegant technical solutions. The role requires strong ownership of code quality, architecture decisions, and performance optimization in mission-critical financial applications. It is ideal for an experienced iOS engineer who thrives in consulting environments and enjoys building enterprise-grade mobile solutions with real-world impact.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop, customize, and maintain native iOS applications built on the Backbase Digital Banking Platform, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Extend and integrate Backbase mobile components to meet specific client requirements and deliver tailored digital banking experiences.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, and Client stakeholders to define, build, and deliver technical solutions.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, testing, and release planning to ensure engineering excellence.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while maintaining application stability, scalability, and security standards.
  • Translate business requirements into technical implementations in close collaboration with clients in a consulting environment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices, tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and development standards.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of professional iOS development experience.
  • Strong expertise in Swift and UIKit, with deep understanding of modern iOS development practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Backbase Digital Banking Platform, including customization and integration of mobile components.
  • Proven experience delivering digital banking solutions for banks, credit unions, or financial institutions.
  • Strong knowledge of MVVM, Clean Architecture, and scalable mobile design patterns.
  • Experience integrating REST APIs and third-party services in production applications.
  • Experience with reactive programming (Combine and/or RxSwift).
  • Strong familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and mobile release processes.
  • Experience publishing and maintaining applications on the Apple App Store.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with clients and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in consulting or professional services environments is highly valued.
