- First Shift: 5:00 AM – 1:40 PM (overtime may be required)
- Second Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:40 PM (overtime may be required)

ROLE PURPOSE
The Painter is responsible for performing surface preparation, coating application, curing, and finishing of metallic components in accordance with applicable customer requirements, engineering specifications, and internal quality management system (QMS) procedures. This position ensures compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards, including process control, traceability, and product conformity requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare parts for coating, including cleaning, and surface preparation (e.g., sanding or blasting) in accordance with work instructions and applicable procedures.
- Apply powder coating and/or wet paint using approved spray equipment and defined process parameters.
- Verify correct job travelers, work orders, and material identification prior to processing.
- Operate coating systems including spray guns, booths, hoppers, ovens, and related equipment.
- Monitor curing ovens to ensure compliance with specified time and temperature requirements.
- Adjust application parameters (e.g., flow rate, pressure, coating thickness) within approved process limits.
- Perform in-process and final visual inspections of coated parts to verify conformance to cosmetic, coverage, and workmanship standards.
- Identify, document, and report nonconforming product in accordance with the company’s Nonconformance Control Procedure.
- Use appropriate measurement and verification tools (e.g., viscometers) as required by process specifications.
- Ensure all work meets applicable engineering drawings, customer specifications, and quality requirements.
- Operate and monitor coating equipment, including spray systems, booths, ovens, and filtration systems.
- Report equipment malfunctions or process deviations to supervision in accordance with escalation procedures.
- Follow all EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) procedures, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of coating materials and chemicals.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks such as filter changes and housekeeping of paint systems
- Maintain compliance with all applicable safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to support continuous improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent desired.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in powder coating and/or wet paint application strongly desired
- Knowledge of powder coating and/or wet paint application process
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality documentation
- Experience in a manufacturing or aerospace-controlled environment is ideal
- Understanding of surface preparation, masking, and finishing requirements
- Familiarity with coating equipment operation and preventive maintenance practices
- Strong visual inspection and attention-to-detail skills
- Basic computer skills for documentation, tracking, and data entry systems
- Ability to follow written, verbal, and process-controlled instructions in a regulated environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly required to stand, use hands and fingers, reach, and communicate verbally and audibly
- Frequently required to walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive motions
- Occasionally required to climb and maintain balance
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs
- Requires close visual acuity for inspection of surface finish and coating quality

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Daily use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required
- Exposure to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, fumes, and chemical substances used in coating processes
- Occasional exposure to temperature variations (heat and cold).
- Loud noise environment requiring hearing protection.
- Exposure to hazardous equipment and regulated chemical processes under controlled procedures.
- Work is performed in compliance with ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality and safety requirements.
- Overtime may be required based on business needs and will be compensated in accordance with applicable federal and California laws.
