Job Description

About Torus

Torus is headquartered in Utah and is expanding manufacturing at our 540,000-square-foot facility in Salt Lake City called GigaOne. Our mission is to build the world’s first mesh energy infrastructure — built to unite people and communities through resilient, secure, and intelligent power. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and support our systems end-to-end, standing behind them throughout their lifecycle. Torus systems help reduce costs, lower emissions, and protect facilities from outages, while strengthening the security and reliability of the broader utility grid. Torus is committed to American manufacturing, engineering excellence, and building energy systems that last.

At Torus, you will be part of something larger than a single product or technology. Your work will help build energy infrastructure that supports critical systems, industry, and communities for decades to come. We value accountability, collaboration, and clear thinking. We are looking for people who want to solve hard problems and build things that matter.

About the Role

As the Facilities Maintenance Lead at Torus, you will serve as the mechanical and operational backbone of our physical environment. In this highly dynamic role, you will be a proactive, high-energy problem solver responsible for a wide spectrum of technical trades—ranging from precise interior finishes and vendor coordination to the complex commissioning of industrial machinery, conveyor systems, and high-pressure pneumatic airlines. Your work has a direct, measurable impact on the business; by optimizing material storage, preventing operational downtime, and executing flawless equipment installations, you act as a critical force multiplier that enables our production capabilities to scale safely and efficiently. This position is a vital launchpad for a deeply motivated, growth-minded professional who wants to take true ownership of a world-class facility and actively grow alongside our rapidly evolving mission.

Who You Are

You are a versatile, multi-talented professional who takes deep ownership of your work, comfortably pivoting from precise cosmetic repairs to complex mechanical troubleshooting and high-pressure pneumatic installations. Driven by a strong internal motor and a genuine desire to learn, you don’t wait for things to break; you proactively identify facility needs and execute solutions with high energy and urgency. You are a clear communicator who can easily interpret complex English technical manuals and seamlessly collaborate with anyone—whether directing third-party vendors or coordinating with heavy-equipment riggers. Ultimately, you aren't just looking for a job; you are a growth-minded problem solver eager to make a tangible impact and build a long-term career alongside our rapidly evolving team.

Responsibilities

Industrial Equipment & Machinery Management

  • Machinery Installation & Commissioning: Lead the setup, calibration, and initial testing of new machinery, ensuring all equipment is safely commissioned and production-ready.

  • Rigging Coordination: Partner with external rigging teams to safely maneuver, lift, and position heavy industrial equipment.

  • Conveyor Systems: Build, install, align, and maintain mechanical conveyor systems to ensure smooth workflow operations.

  • Pneumatics & Utility Piping: Install and perform ongoing maintenance on air compressors and high-pressure water/airline piping systems.

General Facilities & Grounds Maintenance

  • Interior Finishes: Perform high-quality structural and cosmetic repairs, including drywall patching, framing, and interior finishes.

  • HVAC & Electrical Upkeep: Conduct routine troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and minor electrical/HVAC work as needed.

  • Vendor & Landscape Management: Act as the primary point of contact for third-party contractors, ensuring landscaping and external service providers meet Torus standards.

Organization & Safety Optimization

  • Material Storage Solutions: Design and implement efficient inventory and material storage systems to maximize facility space and organization.

  • Safety & Compliance: Read and interpret English technical manuals, safety schematics, and blue prints to ensure all installations meet strict compliance standards.

  • Handyman Mentality: Proactively identify facility issues before they become problems, attacking every task—from a broken door handle to a complex machine teardown—with high energy and urgency.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Required Technical & Mechanical Skills

  • Advanced Commercial & Industrial Maintenance: Proven expertise in general facilities upkeep, including professional drywall repair, framing, painting, and high-end interior finishes.

  • Industrial Pneumatics & Piping: Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting heavy-duty air compressors and high-pressure airline piping systems.

  • Conveyor & Machinery Systems: Experience assembling, building, aligning, and maintaining mechanical conveyor systems and production machinery.

  • Equipment Installation & Commissioning: Ability to manage the full lifecycle of new machinery setup, from unboxing and positioning to initial testing, calibration, and commissioning.

  • Rigging & Heavy Equipment Handling: Familiarity working alongside professional riggers to safely move, lift, and position oversized industrial machinery.

  • HVAC & Electrical Diagnostics: Basic to intermediate knowledge of HVAC systems and the ability to safely perform small-scale electrical work (e.g., wiring fixtures, switches, or minor troubleshooting).

  • Vendor & Project Management: Experience coordinating and overseeing third-party contractors, including landscaping crews, specialized technicians, and external facility maintenance vendors.

  • Inventory & Storage Optimization: Ability to design, implement, and maintain organized material storage solutions to maximize warehouse or facility efficiency.

Physical Requirements & Soft Skills

  • High Drive & Growth Mindset: A self-motivated, ambitious professional who doesn’t just look for bugs, but actively creates solutions and wants to grow with Torus long-term.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, crawl into tight spaces, and stand for extended periods.

  • Communication & Technical Literacy: Must be fully fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English, with a strong ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams.
