Senior Structural Engineer

Buildings Engineering | Aviation, Aerospace, Federal, Health & Science, and Commercial Projects

At RS&H, we don’t just design structures — we help create the spaces and infrastructure that support critical industries, strengthen communities, and shape the future. As an employee-owned national architecture, engineering, and consulting firm, our teams work on meaningful, technically complex projects across the country in a collaborative, people-first environment.

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Buildings Engineering team. In this role, you’ll lead structural design efforts for projects within our aviation, aerospace, federal, health & science, and commercial markets. Projects range from renovations and facility upgrades to large, complex multi-building developments.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys leading technical design efforts, mentoring junior staff, collaborating directly with clients, and helping drive successful multidisciplinary project delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead structural design and analysis for aviation, aerospace, federal, health & science, and commercial building projects
  • Serve as a technical lead for major projects and provide engineering guidance across multidisciplinary teams
  • Prepare and oversee structural calculations, engineering analyses, reports, drawings, specifications, and construction documents
  • Develop and review construction documents using Revit and structural analysis/design software
  • Coordinate with architecture, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and other project disciplines
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, proposal support, and project coordination activities
  • Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration activities
  • Perform quality control reviews and ensure achievement of key technical and project milestones
  • Conduct field observations and site visits to support construction understanding and verify design intent
  • Solve complex engineering challenges through practical and innovative design solutions
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and review of junior staff work for technical accuracy and quality
  • Support discipline coordination, project planning, schedules, scopes, and overall project delivery efforts
  • Stay current with structural engineering standards, building codes, and evolving structural engineering practices.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • 7+ years of relevant structural engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Experience leading portions of major projects or managing multiple moderate-sized projects
  • Proven experience providing technical guidance and reviewing junior staff work for technical accuracy
  • Strong understanding of structural design codes including ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and related standards
  • Proficiency in Revit and structural analysis/design software such as ETABS, RAM, Enercalc, or similar platforms
  • Strong communication, coordination, client interaction, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to independently solve complex engineering problems and make technical decisions
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed

Why Join RS&H?

  • Work on nationally recognized, technically complex projects
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a highly supportive, people-first environment
  • Employee-owned culture where your contributions directly impact the firm’s success
  • Opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and leadership development
  • A firm with decades of experience supporting aviation, aerospace, health & science, commercial, and federal clients nationwide
  • Join a nationally recognized industry leader ranked:
    • #6 in Airports by Engineering News-Record
    • #4 in Military Facilities by Building Design + Construction
    • #44 among Architectural Record’s Top 300 Architecture Firms
    • #53 on ENR’s Top 500 Design Firms list

RS&H continues to help shape the future of infrastructure and building design through innovation, technical excellence, and a commitment to creating tomorrow, together.
