About The Role
The Post Close Commercial - TL role is a full-time, salaried leadership position within the Operations department, responsible for overseeing the post-closing lifecycle of commercial transactions. This role ensures all commercial loan or transaction files are accurately finalized, documented, and compliant with internal policies and regulatory standards. As a team lead, you will guide a group of post-close specialists, coordinate cross-functionally with underwriting, closing, legal, and finance teams, and drive continuous improvement in post-close processes. You will be expected to balance hands-on file review with leadership responsibilities, ensuring operational excellence, risk mitigation, and timely, high-quality delivery of post-close activities.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Post Close Commercial team, including workload allocation, prioritization, and performance oversight.
- Oversee the post-closing process for commercial transactions, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Review closed commercial files to verify the proper execution of documents, alignment with approved terms, and adherence to credit and risk standards.
- Coordinate with closing, underwriting, legal, and servicing teams to resolve discrepancies, obtain missing information, and ensure smooth handoff after closing.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as turnaround times, error rates, and rework levels, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Develop, document, and enhance post-close procedures, checklists, and controls to strengthen quality, efficiency, and compliance.
- Train, mentor, and coach team members on post-closing standards, systems, and best practices to support their development and effectiveness.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex or high-risk post-close issues, making recommendations and decisions within established authority limits.
- Ensure accurate data entry and record maintenance in core systems, imaging platforms, and document repositories.
- Collaborate with risk, audit, and compliance functions to support audits, respond to findings, and implement remediation plans.
- Identify process gaps and partner with technology and process improvement teams to drive automation and streamline workflows.
- Prepare regular status reports and updates for Operations leadership on volume, quality, staffing, and operational risks within the post-close function.
- Promote a culture of accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement within the Post Close Commercial team.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in commercial lending, commercial real estate, or related financial operations, with a focus on closing or post-closing activities.
- Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a team in an operations, loan servicing, or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of commercial loan documentation, closing packages, and related regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to review complex transaction files with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.
- Proficiency with loan servicing or banking systems, document imaging platforms, and standard office software (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes and recommend process improvements.
- Comfort with using metrics and data to monitor performance and inform operational decisions.
- Ability to work on-site, hybrid, or remote as required by the organization’s policies and business needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills appropriate for internal and external stakeholders.
