About The Role

This role ensures all commercial loan or transaction files are accurately finalized, documented, and compliant with internal policies and regulatory standards. As a team lead, you will guide a group of post-close specialists, coordinate cross-functionally with underwriting, closing, legal, and finance teams, and drive continuous improvement in post-close processes. You will be expected to balance hands-on file review with leadership responsibilities, ensuring operational excellence, risk mitigation, and timely, high-quality delivery of post-close activities.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Post Close Commercial team, including workload allocation, prioritization, and performance oversight.
  • Oversee the post-closing process for commercial transactions, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Review closed commercial files to verify the proper execution of documents, alignment with approved terms, and adherence to credit and risk standards.
  • Coordinate with closing, underwriting, legal, and servicing teams to resolve discrepancies, obtain missing information, and ensure smooth handoff after closing.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as turnaround times, error rates, and rework levels, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Develop, document, and enhance post-close procedures, checklists, and controls to strengthen quality, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Train, mentor, and coach team members on post-closing standards, systems, and best practices to support their development and effectiveness.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex or high-risk post-close issues, making recommendations and decisions within established authority limits.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and record maintenance in core systems, imaging platforms, and document repositories.
  • Collaborate with risk, audit, and compliance functions to support audits, respond to findings, and implement remediation plans.
  • Identify process gaps and partner with technology and process improvement teams to drive automation and streamline workflows.
  • Prepare regular status reports and updates for Operations leadership on volume, quality, staffing, and operational risks within the post-close function.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement within the Post Close Commercial team.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in commercial lending, commercial real estate, or related financial operations, with a focus on closing or post-closing activities.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a team in an operations, loan servicing, or similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of commercial loan documentation, closing packages, and related regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to review complex transaction files with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.
  • Proficiency with loan servicing or banking systems, document imaging platforms, and standard office software (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes and recommend process improvements.
  • Comfort with using metrics and data to monitor performance and inform operational decisions.
  • Ability to work on-site, hybrid, or remote as required by the organization’s policies and business needs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills appropriate for internal and external stakeholders.
