Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will help manage regulatory risk, oversee licensing programs, and enhance governance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions. - Maintain and enhance a comprehensive compliance framework covering lending, money transmission, payments, and virtual currency activities across applicable jurisdictions.
- Lead regulatory risk assessments, identifying key risks, evaluating controls, and developing mitigation strategies to strengthen compliance programs.
- Manage state licensing activities, including renewals, regulatory reporting, examinations, ongoing maintenance requirements, and regulator communications.
- Monitor evolving federal and state regulations affecting digital assets, lending, payments, and financial services operations, ensuring timely implementation of necessary changes.
- Review new products, services, partnerships, and marketing initiatives to identify compliance considerations and mitigate regulatory risks.
- Partner with business, operational, and technical teams to develop and implement scalable compliance controls, monitoring processes, and governance practices.
- Oversee compliance testing, issue management, remediation efforts, audit readiness activities, and responses to regulatory inquiries or consumer complaints.
- Support the continued development and maturity of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) initiatives and the Compliance Management System (CMS).
- Design and deliver compliance training programs that promote awareness and adherence to regulatory obligations across the organization.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, legal compliance, or advisory functions within financial services, fintech, lending, payments, or digital asset sectors.
- Demonstrated experience managing or supporting state-licensed lending and/or money transmission programs.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. financial services regulations, including state lending and money transmission requirements, as well as federal regulations such as Regulation E, UDAAP, ECOA, TILA, the E-Sign Act, and relevant BSA/AML principles.
- Proven expertise in developing internal controls, compliance monitoring and testing programs, governance reporting, and examination or audit readiness initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across Product, Operations, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and other business functions to deliver practical compliance solutions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear operational guidance and business processes.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and project management capabilities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving, and highly regulated environment while balancing regulatory expectations with business priorities.
- Must be based in the United States.
- Preferred qualifications include CRCM or similar certification, experience with regulatory agencies, multi-state examinations, fintech or digital asset compliance programs, GRC/CMS implementation, and a strong interest in bitcoin and digital asset regulation.
