About the Role:

The Vice President of Engineering in the manufacturing sector is a strategic leadership position responsible for overseeing the entire engineering function to drive innovation, efficiency, and quality in product development and manufacturing processes. This role requires the development and execution of engineering strategies that align with the company’s business objectives, ensuring that engineering projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet rigorous quality standards. The VP of Engineering will lead cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration between engineering, production, quality assurance, and supply chain departments to optimize manufacturing workflows and product designs. Additionally, this role involves mentoring and developing engineering talent, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, and staying abreast of emerging technologies to maintain competitive advantage. Ultimately, the Vice President of Engineering will be instrumental in scaling engineering capabilities to support growth and operational excellence across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • At least 10 years of progressive engineering experience within the manufacturing industry, including 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven track record of leading large engineering teams and managing complex manufacturing projects.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, product development lifecycle, and quality management systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies such as automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0 concepts.
  • Previous experience working in a multinational manufacturing environment.
  • Professional engineering licensure (PE) or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the engineering department, including recruitment, development, and performance management of engineering teams.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies that support manufacturing goals and business growth.
  • Oversee product design, process engineering, and manufacturing technology initiatives to improve efficiency and product quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders in production, quality, supply chain, and R&D to ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement programs and innovation projects to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce costs.
  • Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure successful delivery of engineering objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies in all engineering activities.
  • Represent the engineering function in executive leadership meetings and contribute to strategic business planning.
