Job Classification: Non-Exempt, Part-Time
Work Schedule: Mutually Determined: Monday-Friday, between 8:00AM and 5:30PM

JOB SUMMARY
The Center for Safety and Empowerment (CSE), a program of YWCA Northeast Kansas, provides support and advocacy for victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking in a five-county service area. The Part-Time Day Center Advocate Maintains a safe, confidential environment for clients of the YWCA Center for Safety and Empowerment’s (CSE) Day Center. They provide services to clients who are victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or abuse. Reporting to the CSE Assistant Program Director, this position conducts initial intakes for clients, assists in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness at the Day Center, and actively promotes and supports the organization’s mission and vision.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts initial Day Center intakes for clients who are victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, and or stalking.
- Orients Day center clients to services available to them.
- Monitors clients in the Day Center, addressing any concerns that arise per the Day Center policy manual.
- Assures client and staff safety by taking necessary emergency measures.
- Assists in maintaining Day Center cleanliness and orderliness. Examples: laundry, donation management, stock kitchen, clean set/ up bedroom for clients.
- Inventories and orders food and supplies necessary for Day Center operations.
- Maintains necessary documentation weekly, bi-weekly, and/or monthly.
- Attends Staff meetings.
Other Position Functions
- Refrains from assuming any duty that is unrelated to and/or interferes with the responsibilities of the position.
- Develops, promotes, and practices teamwork and open communication in all activities.
- Assists in maintaining the operational functions of YWCA Northeast Kansas headquarters, including serving as a substitute for the front desk when needed.
- Advocates, promotes, and practices cultural sensitivity and responsiveness in day-to-day interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS
At a minimum, the Part-Time Day Center Advocate must have a High School diploma or GED. In addition, the Part-Time Day Center Advocate shall have:
- Ability to work well with a diverse client population.
- Ability to mediate and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to relate well to victims' crisis.
- Ability to function in a crisis setting where interruptions are frequent.
- Must be punctual, reliable, and understand client/staff good boundaries issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage individuals in crisis.
- Ability to function well in a crisis setting where interruptions are frequent.
- Commitment to the YWCA mission and values, including a strong focus on racial equity and social justice.
