Job Description

The Director of Quality is responsible for overseeing all quality assurance efforts including the development and implementation of a quality assurance program.

Essential duties & responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary liaison across internal teams and external partners on all quality system matters.
  • Design, implement, and assess quality assurance processes, procedures, sampling plans, and statistical process control methods.
  • Develop process capability analyses for equipment and machined parts.
  • Establish and manage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Create and maintain in‑process inspection standards, testing methods, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on new product development to define standards, test methods, and acceptance criteria; recommend specification revisions as needed.
  • Analyze specifications and statistical data to identify gaps, compliance risks, and improvement opportunities; report QA metrics (KPIs) to senior leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement of QA processes and programs.
  • Develop quality and reliability standards to support final inspection and testing.
  • Maintain product quality documentation by writing and updating QA procedures.
  • Define standards for product disposition through evaluation methods and testing protocols.
  • Prepare product and process quality reports by collecting and analyzing data and trends.
  • Identify errors and opportunities for process enhancement.
  • Oversee QA operational requirements by scheduling, assigning, and monitoring staff.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate QA personnel; manage team performance.
  • Manage QA budget, analyze variances, and implement cost‑saving corrective actions.
  • Support broader organizational goals by contributing to cross‑functional initiatives.
  • Enforce the Quality Management System.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & requirements:
  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in a science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (7+ years).
    • 7+ years of broad technical experience, including at least two years in quality engineering.
    • 3+ years of experience managing technical personnel and complex operations, with a minimum of two years in quality management.
  • Required Skills/Abilities:
    • ​​​​​​​Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project
    • Drive continuous improvement of the QMS alignment with ISO 9001:2015 and customer-specific requirements.
    • Strong understanding of quality control standards and methodologies.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time‑management abilities.
    • Proven analytical and problem‑solving skills.
    • Effective supervisory and leadership capabilities.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, sometimes high‑pressure environment.
    • Self‑motivated with strong prioritization skills.
    • Regular on‑site attendance required.
  • Preferred Skills/Abilities:
    • ​​​​​​​Master’s degree in business sciences.
    • Expertise in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear; use hands and fingers for handling tools and equipment in a production environment. Requires close, distance, and color vision, plus the ability to adjust focus. Includes prolonged periods of desk and computer work. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and fingers.
